Bonnie Cannon
We're excited to welcome Champion Bonnie Cannon to The Platform for a special pre-Liberty visit featuring a small-group workshop and private coaching opportunities.
Bonnie has been a competitor, coach, judge, and mentor in the West Coast Swing community for decades. She is known for her thoughtful approach to movement, connection, and partnership, helping dancers develop skills that work not only in the classroom but on the social floor as well.
Bonnie also holds a special place in our community: she was one of Joe's first coaches and played an important role in shaping his understanding of dance and teaching.
Managing Space & Connection
Connection is one of the most important parts of West Coast Swing—and one of the things that makes the biggest difference in how a dance feels. Bonnie will break down how partners share movement, manage distance, and communicate through connection so that dancing feels smoother, clearer, and more comfortable.
Whether you're struggling with consistency or simply want your dancing to feel more effortless, this workshop will give you practical tools you can immediately use with any partner.
To create a more personalized learning experience, the workshop will be limited to just 14 dancers, allowing for more individual feedback, questions, and discussion.
Workshop Details
Thursday, June 25th
8:00 PM – 9:00 PM
$40 per person
Guided Practice is included afterwards so you can immediately apply and explore what you've learned.
Private Lessons
Bonnie will also be available for private lessons on Wednesday and Thursday before Liberty Swing Dance Championships.
Whether you're preparing for competition, polishing a routine, working through a specific challenge, or simply looking for personalized feedback, private coaching offers an opportunity to dive deeper into your individual goals and accelerate your progress.
Private lesson availability is limited.
Why We’re Excited
At The Platform, we're always looking for opportunities to connect our community with teachers who have shaped the West Coast Swing scene and helped develop generations of dancers.
We're thrilled to share Bonnie's knowledge and experience with our students and can't wait to learn alongside all of you.
